Principal Investigator (Weed Scientist) - Newark, DE-7046080812

Job Description

DuPont is currently recruiting for full time Principal Investigator (Weed Scientist) opportunity at the Stine Haskell Research Center, located in Newark, DE.

The successful candidate will lead research programs including lab, greenhouse and field studies to identify and characterize new herbicidal areas of chemistry, with the goal of discovering product development candidates.

The Principal Investigator (Weed Scientist) generates extensive biological results through a series of tiered screens and special tests, interprets and reports the results, and works closely with synthesis chemists, biochemists and environmental scientists in a team environment to optimize lead area chemistry. Development, validation and implementation of new bioassays will complement these activities. The successful Principal Investigator will have a good understanding of current and evolving weed control practices in multiple market regions. The ideal Principal Investigator will integrate greenhouse and field biology with mode of action, environmental fate, crop and weed metabolism and other topics to guide the team to superior new product discoveries. The position calls for active networking with DuPont regional field development specialists and marketing teams as well as strong interactions with the academic week/crop science communities. Opportunities exist to actively participate in national meetings, publish in refereed journals and travel to field sites worldwide.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Weed Science, Crop Science, Agronomy or related fields

  • Graduate or postdoctoral experience in crop protection research. Industry experience in crop protection would be a plus.
